Chiplus Semiconductor Corporation: All set with Nankang IC Design Incubation Center’s technical support, the Company’s R&D is breaking new grounds in full power.

Following the global trend of green technology, Chiplus, a fabless IC design house specializing in Asynchronous SRAM and LED Drivers is now also investing in the R&D of the advanced power management and G.hn (next generation for home network) communications IC’s. Based on the global G.hn standard ITU-T G.9960, the Company is working with Nankang IC Design Incubation Center to co-develop a chip for the next generation home network, the GC9960.

According to Niantsu Wang, CTO of Chiplus, Nankang IC Design Incubation Center will provide Chiplus with EDA (Electronic Design Automation), testing and measurement laboratory and IC tapeout backend services, all in one package. With all these expensive design tools and services taken care of by the Center, a small IC design house can now concentrate on its own business: the R&D of new products. The Center truly understands the IC design business, in addition to this hardware and EDA support it also provides knowledge based services such as IP (Intellectual Property) services, including IP consultation, negotiation and acquisitions for Chiplus.

As also pointed out by Wang that Chiplus, being an analog IC design house lacks the associated logic design and FPGA emulations experiences in the development of the GC9960. The Center’s expertise in these areas perfectly complements this need. To Chiplus, the Center is like part of its design team, providing all supports from the basic business consultation to the full technical assistances.
